Look At This Gem

I am doing another link-up today (yay, me!)!!!  I was supposed to find a picture from my yearbook years, but I could not pass up this little gem and felt the need to post this:

Let me break this picture down for you....
  • I was 4 years old and obsessed with the colors purple and pink
  • I had two fish - Jessica and Tiffany (both died from me over-feeding them aka dumping all their food in the bowl at one time)
  • I hated my name and wished it was Jessica or Tiffany
  • I loved the cartoons Duck Tales, Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers, Fraggle Rock, Loony Tunes, Scooby Doo, and Gummy Bears (if you have never heard of Gummy Bears, do yourself a favor and look it up!!)
  • I may or may not have said "I hate my nipples" when referring to my dimples on my face
  • Someone told me that the gummy worms I was eating were real worms and I cried my eyes out and spit out my gummy worms everywhere
  • I was deathly afraid of bugs
  • I had a mini boom box with a microphone that I would make police siren noises into all the time (totally normal)
  • I was introduced to scary movies by my grandma and loved them.  I used to watch Pet Semetary, Child's Play, Cujo and would never be phased.  I used that to my advantage when I would make my cousin Michael watch them with me and then "go to the bathroom" while he was sitting alone, only to creep up on him and scare the bejesus out of him!
Now, do yourself a favor and hop on over to Holly's blog to see other yearbook photos - there are definitely more gems out there.

Now to a totally un-related topic.  One that is so very heavy on so many people's minds and hearts.  One that no one can relate to, unless they were there or have family or friends that were there.  I am sure you know already, but I am talking about the tragedy that struck at the Boston Marathon yesterday.  To say I was in total shock would not even come close to how I felt yesterday when hearing the news.  All I can say is that my prayers are with the runners, families, and friends that were affected by the soul-less cowards that did this.  I cannot begin to fathom the impact that this tragedy has on the Boston community, the Boston Marathon, and most importantly the lives of those that were altered or taken yesterday.  What should have been such a joyous day for so many, turned into one of the worst days, if not, the worst day ever.  My prayers are with you Boston.

What I can take away from this is that the good in this world far outweighs the bad.  This has been shown countless times before, and it was shown yesterday with the out pour of support shown from volunteers, innocent bystanders, and runners.  All we can do is focus on that and not give the scum the satisfaction of breaking our pride.  We are part of such a great nation and cannot let this take that away from us.  Nothing ever will.

Welp, I hope you all have a fantastic Tuesday!

See ya later suckas!

    1. Why thank you! ha! I have to say though, that I strategically avoided grades 4-6 because that is what I like to refer to as my "chubby years." I will have to save those for a whole new post in itself!
