9 Months

These last 9 months have been the best 9 months of my life.  We welcomed our baby boy into the world on September 26th, 2012 and our hearts were stolen in that very instant.  I can’t believe how fast time has gone since and every day I am so thankful for him.  Happy 9 months Kamden!  Mommy and daddy love you so much!

Fun Facts about KB:
He is always smiling J
He loves to jump!  Whether he is standing (with assistance) or in his jumper, those chunky little legs are moving.

He can feed himself his own bottle

He loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Little Einstein’s

He loves music

He has tried basically all fruits and veggies and hasn’t disliked any of them.  The only food that he hasn’t come around to is scrambled eggs.  I think it’s the texture…

He has the biggest and prettiest blue eyes I have ever seen

He army crawls mostly and is very fast

He started pulling himself up on things - couch, me, car seat, etc.

He likes to make a lot of noise - yelling, gurgling, and rambling.  He says “da da da” and “ba ba ba” a lot.

He goes to sleep for naps and bedtime without making a fuss almost every time.  His bedtime is normally around 7:30/8pm and he will sleep until about 6:30/7am. He usually takes 2-3 naps per day.

He is instantly drawn to cell phones and remote controllers

Everything he finds ends up in his mouth

2 of his bottom teeth came through a couple months ago and now he has 2 top teeth poking through

Every time I say “boofda” he smiles or giggles J

He loves when people sing to him

He likes to drink juice/water out of his sippy cup

He likes to go for runs and walks in his stroller

He loves bath time

From the second he is awake he wants to be on the go - he basically tries to jump out of your arms

It takes an army to change his diaper or get him dressed

He almost always sleeps on his tummy with his butt up in the air

We are so blessed and are having so much fun watching him grow - he just needs to slow down!
Happy Hump Day and kiss your babies! J

I Got Fiiiiive On It

It’s Friday, WHOOP WHOOP!!!!  My alarm went off at 4:45am this morning and it was storming so Keena and I did not get our work out in.  That’s okay because I stayed up too late watching the Heat game last night and didn’t get to bed until around midnight.  I would have been a total pile had I gotten up and worked out.  I am hoping I can get in some sort of exercise tonight after work because I have to wear a swimsuit tomorrow….in public….in daylight.  Working out tonight will totally make that better, no?  Anyway, here is what I am happy about, wanting, needing, touching, feeling…wait, that’s a Journey song.  I am lame.
THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

1) THIS DRESS!!!!  I must have it.  I have been staring at it daily and think that I just need to pull the trigger and buy that sucker!

2) Buddy Boy stood up for the first time on his own last night and then a little later I noticed he has 2 new teeth poking through.  They are his eye teeth so we may or may not have a baby vampire on our hands shortly.  This little man is growing too fast and I cannot take it!  In other news, he LOVES to crawl right over my face.  The other day I was lying on the floor and he was right by me.  Then he backed up slowly, looked me dead in the eyes, and then plowed right over my face at the speed of light.
3) Tomorrow I will be soaking up the sun, hanging with my girls, riding roller coasters, and going down water slides.  I cannot wait!!!  I can't concentrate on anything today either.  Saturday just needs to show it's face already!

4) My friend Dupa just informed me that at Walmart if you buy a case of Miller Lite you get a free 4 pack of Summer Shandy tall cans.  Miller Lite is not usually what I drink, but I see a trip to Walmart in my very near future.

5) I really want to paint our living room this summer and I really want to switch up our colors a bit.  I am leaning towards a blue/gray/greenish color because our furniture is cream/white and I want to accent it with dark brown end tables, frames, etc.  I am really excited to do this - we just need to figure out when we are able to!!  Even Bud agreed when I showed him this color:

Welp, that's all I have because my brain is slowly turning to mush as I wait out the next couple hours before I get to leave work and the weekend officially starts. TGIF!  Have a great weekend!

Later!

Whatever Wednesday

GET THIS WEEK OVER WITH!  I have a bachelorette party to attend this weekend and these next couple days are really putting a damper on my excitement!
So, while I am counting down the days, hours, minutes, seconds….here are some “whatevers” for this Wednesday:
1)      Monday morning rolled around this week and my alarm went off at 4:45am to get up and work out with my friend Keena.  I immediately texted her and said that I would not be making it and slept an extra 2 hours.  I am not even mad - it was amazing.  Since I couldn’t get my booty out of bed that morning, I ran up a “mountain” after work.  So there.  Whatever.

2)     I randomly have a sore on the inside of my nose that feels like a boog just chilling.  I can’t handle that feeling so I picked it…. Well, it turned into a scab, so I picked it again.  Now it looks like I have been huffing glue out of a paper bag.  Whatever.

3)    Everyone seems like they are upset about the outcome of the Voice last night.  It’s been blowing up my FB page like crazy.  I honestly have no idea why everyone is so pissed because I don’t watch it (gaaaaaaaaaasp) but I do like me some Usher.  Whatever.

MmmmmHmmmmm
 4)  This is bad, but I would not be opposed to dousing myself in baby oil while laying on blacktop to get blasted by the sun, because I am ghostly right now.  This Saturday is a perfect chance for me to get some color on this skin since we will be in Wisconsin Dells for Keena’s bachelorette party.  Can you say Tan Mom?  Whatever.

5)    I took Monday off to continue my tanning endeavors and am going to the Tiki Bar on a lake nearby with some friends.  I am keeping KB home in the morning with me and then dropping him off at the sitter for the remainder of the day.  Basically I am spending $20 to lay in the sun with some friends.  Whatever.

6)     I’ve been Pinterest failing like a mo fo lately.  I have been trying to make my mom a Mother’s Day gift since before Mother’s Day and keep failing miserably.  She is aware and is waiting patiently but seriously, I need to get this figured out.  Father’s Day has already come and passed so get it together Devon!  I have another plan if round 4 of my original idea doesn’t work.  Apparently I am not as crafty as I thought.  Whatever.

7)     I risked my life this morning and killed a spider BY MYSELF.  It took me about 5 tries with my shoe but that sucker looked glorious swirling away in my toilet.  I conveniently left out that I stared at that thing in horror for about 5 minutes with my life flashing before my eyes before I could even move to grab a shoe.  Whatever.

That’s all I have for today.  Happy Hump Day!
Peace out!

21

I am linking up with Jake & Holly to write a letter to my 21 year old self.  Ohhh to be 21 again...
button

Dear 21 Year Old Self,
Welcome back to the Midwest!  I know you are not sure how to feel about this since you moved back from Arizona with your boyfriend and are transferring to a school you know nothing about, but don’t worry - it will work out for the best.    You learn a lot within the first month of living in Eau Claire:
1) You are good at bargain shopping, however, don’t use those skills when looking for an apartment - you end up in the ghetto.
2) GO TO CLASS!!!! When they told you statistics was hard and you really need to go to class they were not joking.  You will take this class again and will not be very happy about it.
3) Find out the cool bars to go to before you finally turn 21 so that you don’t wander around aimlessly with your friend all night on Water Street.
 4) Drinking Sparks all night will always end up in you having an orange mustache in all your pictures and most likely a very upset tummy the next morning.  Even though they taste like sweet tarts, they don't stay down like sweet tarts.
5) You are really upset that your boyfriend is MIA all the time now but don’t get too sad - there is someone else better for you right in front of you.
You can finally throw out that California ID that says you are 28 and you are 5’9, 120 pounds, and Lindsey.  You had a great run with that thing but it looks nothing like you.  I am very surprised you were never given a ticket for having that since you got caught about 5 times with it.  I am even more surprised that thing ever worked out in your favor.
Good job at taking the interview at Garfield’s before the other one you had scheduled at Northwoods later that same day.  Best decision of your life.  And that cute bartender you met during your interview that you tell your roommate about?  Well, he is your future husband.  Yeah, didn’t think you would meet “the one” so quickly after breaking up with your other bf, did you??  Life is crazy and you will come to realize that more and more each day.  Also, don’t wear your black pea coat on your first date with this cute bartender….makes for an awkward moment.  Also, don’t try to be cool and order a martini at dinner…it will be WAAAAAAY too strong for you.
Instead of buying a new outfit after every shift you work, maaaaaybe try saving some of that money.  You will need it eventually and you kick yourself later for not being more responsible with it.  On the flip side, you always looked cute with those outfits so it wasn’t the worst decision ever.  Also, stop drinking strawberry daiquiris - they are really good but have like 800 calories in them.  Same goes for the Cuban sandwich - that baby has like 1,200+.  Also, going out the night before you have a 7:30am class (statistics) is no bueno.  STOP IT!
You are so excited to go to Vegas with your family for your birthday but that doesn’t mean you should drink vodka redbulls the ENTIRE TRIP like it’s water.  Yes, I know they are “free” since you are “gambling,” but they make you so sick that you miss out on the Chicago concert and you lose your Tiffany bracelet.  You do not have a tolerance like your father, so don’t try to keep up!  And no one will believe you when you tell them you saw Flava Flave at the airport but it’s true and that’s all that matters.
A lot changed for you this year - you moved to Wisconsin, you broke up with your high school boyfriend of almost 3 years, you met a new boyfriend (future hubby) almost immediately, and you are starting to mold into the person you are going to be 7 years later.  You will have a lot of ups and downs, you will make MANY mistakes, you will feel like Van Wilder for a bit, you will lose friends but you will also make friends, and in spite of you wanting to live the “big city life” you will end up living in a smaller city that offers everything you need and you will be happy and better off for it.  Don’t rush your life because looking back it seems like it flew by.  Oh, and stop wishing you were done with school.  You love to sleep in and after college you basically never get to do it again……like ever.  So, live it up while you are young and don’t have “adult” responsibilities.

Now for a photo montage:

~Until next time,
Your 28 year old self

Whatever Wednesday

In honor of Wednesday, here are some whatevers....

  • I am really happy it’s hump day but would be a lot happier if it was Friday.  I am just done with this week already! Whatever.
  • We had our 3rd softball game of the season last night and we lost.  We should have won because we were tied up for a while but the other team snuck in 2 runs at the end.  I played like meh but at the very least I was better than last week. (not hard to do) Whatever.
  • Speaking of softball, I had 2 funny thoughts during last night’s game.  They are probably only funny to me, but what if you were playing against a team that rooted everyone on in unison?  Everyone at the same time would be yelling, “Go Angie,” or “Nice hit”…just everything would be said in unison the entire game.  I laughed to myself but didn’t tell anyone because I had a feeling I would be the only one laughing.  THEN, I thought it would be funny to keep shaking hands with the other team at the end, over and over again, walking in circles in the middle of the infield shaking hands with the other team, then your own team, then the other team again, etc…  yeah I am a moron.  I didn’t tell anyone about that thought either.  Whatever.
  • Sometimes I think I would be good at coming up with skits for SNL.  Then I write them out or try telling someone and quickly realize how lame my idea was.  Case and point ^^^^^ (that’s referring to #3) Whatever.
  • I have been meaning to clean out my son’s dresser and closet for about a month or so now.  I need to take out all the clothes that don’t fit him anymore and replace with all the bigger clothes we currently have in piles.  I despise laundry and this task feels hauntingly similar….whatever.

  • I NEED NEED NEED to add more to Kamden’s baby book.  I have been slacking since he was about a month old and really need to get that info in there before I forget!  You see, I have horrible handwriting and I debated on trying out an online baby book but the website I went to is no longer available.  Womp.  So, now I need to just suck it up and update that thing!  You would think as a first time mom I would be all over this!  I feel bad for the rest of my kids who will have to piece their babyhood together with random pictures (I’m sorry babies!!).  Whatever.
  • I really, really, really, REALLY want ice-cream.  Like now.  Whatever.
GET IN MY BELLY!!!!
  • My skin is turning translucent.  I really want a day to lie in the sun but every time the weekend rolls around we are busy or it’s raining.  I don’t want to go tanning or pay for a spray tan, so I will just continue to complain about it.  Whatever.

Welp, that’s all I have.  Until next time…
Peace out!

Brady Bands & Little Moments, Part Deux

Now that I am a mother I am finally understanding the level of worry, empathy, sadness, and heartbreak that comes with having a sick child or struggling with the loss of a child.  To put it more bluntly: I lose my sh*t every time I read a story about a child in pain.  I can't help but put Kamden's face on that child and think about "what if that was Kamden?"..."what if my family had to go through this" and I seriously cannot imagine.  As I was going through the blogs I follow this morning, I came across Skinny Meg's post about Brady Bands and the story behind them.  Brady bands are a headband you can wear while working out (or anytime) that does not move and holds your hair back whether you are pounding the pavement or pumping iron.  They are really cute and have tons of different sizes and designs.  I have never personally tried the bands but have heard numerous times how great they are.  You can read about Brady Bands and Brayden's story here.  Brayden is the reason Brady Bands came about.  You should definitely check it out and bring your Kleenex.

A while back I posted about Little Moments and I am following up that post with another one of those little moments here again today.  Being a mom can be crazy on many different levels.  Whether it's because you are cramming as much as you can into a 15 hour span - cleaning, taking care of your baby, working out, working full time, making dinner (or watching Bud make dinner while I entertain the kiddo), trying to stay sane while running off of 5-6 hours of sleep, feeding the baby, chasing the baby (we have a crawler!!!), etc.  The day is a never-ending whirlwind of crazy.  It doesn't ever slow down and most times I feel like a chicken that stuck their wing into a light socket and lost their head.  But it's our life, these things need to get done, and we just make it work.

Last night as I was cleaning up after dinner (only slightly panicking in my head about how messy our kitchen was, BOOF) I started thinking about how our life now compares to how it was when Bud and I first met.  Back then, I would have never imagined that an interview at Garfield's Pub & Grill would lead me to the love of my life, and ultimately the family I have today.  It's crazy how life can spin you in many different directions, only to point you where you were destined to be all along.  It was around 7:30 last night that I was cleaning up the kitchen- washing dishes, wiping counter tops, sweeping the floors...  I was rushing to get everything cleaned up so that I would have at least a couple hours to wind down before going to bed.  My hands looked like prunes from washing the pots and pans, steam from the water was making me sweat (surprise, surprise), my feet hurt (enter the tiniest violin), and just as I was about to start complaining in my head I heard my husband burping Kamden in the other room.  He had just finished his bottle before going to sleep and I could just picture his smiley little face - satisfied from his bottle, probably half asleep since he usually closes his eyes as he eats before bed, just sitting on my husband's lap and wobbling back and forth from getting burped.  That tiny little man is the reason why we do all we do.  That amazing little person came into our lives almost 9 months (holy man) ago and has forever changed our lives for the better and continues to do so daily.

The sounds of the Brewer game in the background, my husband patting KB's back, and the water running in our kitchen sink was the perfect lullaby to my night.  I am so thankful I am able to be frantic on a daily basis because that means I am living!  That means I have a healthy and happy baby boy and a husband that I love more than anything.  Those boys may drive me completely bat sh*t crazy at times but I don't want it any other way.

As I was reading Brayden's story this morning it hit me even more that life is going to be crazy and unpredictable, but to just be thankful for the moment because before you know it, that moment will be gone.  Time just goes so fast and I need to constantly remind myself to soak it all in and enjoy it while I can.

Before I know it, there won't be sounds of my husband patting KB's back in the background as I clean, it will be sounds of my husband's walker hitting the kitchen floor while he looks around for his old people medicine and a beer while our kids will have families of their own.  What, you don't wash down old people meds with beer??? (I had to lighten the mood)

Anyway, I had to share because it's always good to just stop and soak it in every once in a while.  I hope everyone has a happy Tuesday! :)

Peace out!

Five

As I was doing my morning routine aka easing my way into the work day aka procrastinating because it’s Friday, I came across this link-up from The Good Life blog about naming 5 things you love/want/need/want to share this week and decided to join the party!  I am SOOOOO happy it’s almost the weekend!  We have a birthday party for my husband’s grandma tomorrow and then on Sunday we are having some friends over to grill out so it should be a great weekend with family and friends.  Now, without further ado, here are my 5:
THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

1)      On Wednesday night we had Kamden’s pictures taken and I cannot wait to get them back!  He looked so cute and so big I can’t stand it!  We went to a studio about 30 minutes away and he fell asleep on our way there.  When we got there and he woke up, he wasn’t really sure about things and cried immediately.  I was a little worried that it would make it difficult to get pictures but he quickly snapped out of it and was smiley, giggly, and very alert for his photo shoot.  Then after the crying stopped, he spit up my husband’s shirt so that was awesome.  Luckily most of it came off and wasn’t noticeable in the pics.  We did a few family shots, and then the rest were of our sweet boy.  Here is a sneak peak -  I will hopefully have the rest to look at in a couple weeks:
I wish I would have noticed his collar was like that!!! Either way, I just love this picture!
2)      Keena and I stuck to our plan this week to work out at 5am on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  We are basically rockstars.  This morning, in spite of me staying up until midnight last night and having a couple glasses bottle of wine, I was still up at 5am ready to go.  It feels so great to have my work out done for the day before I would even be getting up for work normally.  Now I can come home after work and spend more time with KB before he goes to bed.  Hopefully we keep this up throughout the summer!
3)      Speaking of Keena, her bachelorette party is in 2 WEEKS!!!  I am so excited to spend a night away with the girls to relax in the sun, play at the water park, and go out for a night on the town.  We are going to Wisconsin Dells and staying at Mt. Olympus.  I have never stayed there but it looks pretty amazing.  I can hear my inner child squirming with excitement. :)
4)      I am currently obsessed with the song “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pherrell.  First off, Robin Thicke is fiiiiiiiiiiine.  Second off (does that even make sense?), Pherrell has been out of the scene for a while and is back.  Thank God!  I used to listen to Pherrell all the time in college.  This song makes me think I am vacationing somewhere in the sun and on a beach.  So I named it the “Song of the Summer.”  I already downloaded it from iTunes and Kamden and I had a dance party while I got ready this morning.  Try not to dance when you hear it.  Even KB was bouncing around and “singing” along with it.  Now, go Youtube this shiz!!!
5)      I am seriously loving this season of the Real Housewives of the OC.  Drama, drama, and more drama!  I love that it’s on Monday nights because it gives me something to look forward to on the crap day of Monday.  Even my husband will watch it with me.  I am sure he is more interested in the pretty ladies, but I will take it!!  All I have to say is, Vicki is CRAZY!  The only sane thing she said last week was that they should whoop it up in Mexico and not be lame!  Other than that, all those guys she was with in her past and the way she has been acting aka trying to attract attention…YIKES!  That girl cray.

Welp, that’s all I have.  Now this work day needs to giddy up!!
Peace out!!
