What, What, What, Would You Do?

Happy Hump Day suckas!  I wish I could say that after last Friday things have been smooth sailing but that would be the understatement of the year.  So instead of continuing my whining, I am going to leave you with this magical story about a girl's weekend I had a couple years ago.  We are doing this weekend again in a couple weeks and I CANNOT WAIT TO GET OUT OF TOWN!!!!!  To my family who may be reading this: I am sorry but this is what happens when a bunch of crazy ladies get together for a weekend away....

Story of my life

So a couple winters ago my friend Leah invited a bunch of us girls up to her cabin an hourish away for the night.  It was a chance to get away, just us girls, and party it up.  (This was pre-baby)  So we all got together (there was about 8 of us) and made the trip up North early on a Saturday morning.  Once we got up there we immediately cracked a cold one and went on with our day of playing games, eating, gossiping, drinking, etc.

Jreal cozy

Playing games and eating jello shots

By the time dinner rolled around, we were all ready to go out to the local bar for some food and more drinks (because we really needed more at that point).  The bar we walked to was a lot of fun but that is not where I am going with this story.  It was after we left the bar where things got interesting....

Getting ready to head to the bar.  I WILL be wearing that flannel jacket again :)  That Vikings coozie didn't make it back home after that weekend :(

As we were leaving to walk back to the cabin a couple of girls found some people they knew (I think...things were a little fuzzy at this point) and decided they would hitch a ride back to the cabin.

The truck didn't fit everyone, so my friend Dupa and I said "you guys go ahead, we would rather walk."  So walk we did.  Within the first minute of our walk we decided that it would be much shorter to cut through the ditch next to the road we needed to be on to get back to the cabin.  Mind you, it was winter and there was A LOT of snow.  After we decided to cut through the ditch we sprinted (not sure why) into that ditch and we both immediately face planted into the snow.  This was because our feet sunk down to the bottom of the snow right off the bat.  As we laid there laughing our asses off, up to our knees in snow, I tried to get up and when I pulled my feet out of the snow I was missing a shoe.  I looked back, it was dark, looked for a bit, and couldn't find my shoe.  So I did what any logical person would do and said "meh, I don't need my shoe."  Real classy.  Meanwhile, I wasn't wearing any socks.  This is where my dear friend, Dupa, offered up her shoe because "I am wearing socks at least."  HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I am sorry, this still cracks me up to this day.  So we start walking, me wearing 2 different shoes, Dupa wearing 1 shoe and a sock on the other foot.  We somehow made it a block or so before our friends came back and picked us up.  THANK GOD!  Not sure how we would have made it back to the cabin with Dupa only wearing a sock on her foot in the middle of winter.

So at that point I figured my shoe was long gone.  I was sad the next day because I really liked those shoes!  So the shoe story became a big joke between us girls.  But this is not where the story ended...

About a month or so later, I am at Dupa's apartment when Leah comes by with a "gift."  Leah walks in, grinning, hands me a gift bag and her and Dupa watch in excitement as I open the bag.  What was in the bag you ask?  MY MISSING SHOE!!!!  I seriously could not believe it.  Leah's parents go to their cabin a lot, and they also go for walks a lot around that area while they are up there.  Well, when the snow started melting, they started looking for my shoe and they actually found it.  AND, it was in perfect condition!!!!!  (As perfect as a pair of 4 year old shoes can be, ha!)  I had my shoe back and a pretty funny story on top of it!  To most, this is probably not that amusing but to me, it's freakin hilarious.

My glorious shoe

Welp, on that note I am out.  Hope everyone is having a great week so far and can make it to the weekend in one piece!

See ya later suckas!

Spaghetti-meatball...better analogy for you???

Soooooo....I took a few days off from posting anything.  Not that I really wanted the break, but I couldn't find the energy for it!  After last week's hellish work week, I greeted the weekend with a glass bottle of wine and relaxed as much as I could.  Last week was a rough one, and I am a baby - whatever!  Remember my crap magnet post?  Well, I must have jinxed myself when I said it should get easier after last Wednesday because Friday brought a whole new beast and when that day was over I was surprised I was still alive.  My co-worker, who is an angel from heaven, brought me this at lunch Friday to cheer me up:

Chocolate ice cream with smores and Twix bars = The key to my heart

And man was it glorious!  I LOVE ice cream.  Before I left work Friday, I went around cubeland and personally thanked my co-workers for putting up with my crazy week and for helping me when I needed it.  I have a really great team I work with and would not have gotten through last week without them.  I totally wish I could have dropped my laptop like a boss and walked out of the office at the end of that day....

Like a boss
Saturday rolled around and I wanted to be at least a little productive so I cleaned a little, shopped a little, ran on the treadmill for an hour, and got ready for our dinner plans with friends that night.  My mother in law agreed to come over and babysit KB so we were able to eat dinner and go out for a few drinks afterwards.  I am LAME and didn't take any pictures that night.  There were 20 of us that met up and it was so fun to see all our friends!  I loved catching up with everyone and can't wait to do it again in 2 weeks for girl's weekend!  (More on that in a later post)  We don't get to do that much these days so we took advantage and let loose a little.  Well, I let loose - Bud was responsible and kept it under control.  I didn't go crazy or anything, but I was definitley feeling good by the end of the night, and once we got home my face hit the couch and I was gonzo.

Gonzo - what I probably looked like right before I hit the couch
It wasn't my night to get up with KB and I slept in until 11AM on Sunday!!!!! (Well, it felt like 10AM since we had to spring forward with our clocks)  Even though I got to "sleep-in", I was still pretty lazy for a majority of the day and it was AMAZING.  I probably should have cleaned a bit more since we are having family over this weekend for KB's baptism but I will just have to do that throughout this week.   Besides, I couldn't pass up cuddle time with this guy:

My handsome little man
Speaking of that little guy, last night Bud and I were giving each other crap (which is very normal and happens often) and KB must have thought we were arguing or mad or something because he stuck his bottom lip out so fast and started crying!  It was the cutest/saddest thing ever!  I assured him we were joking and he calmed down right away, but it definitely pulled at my heart strings.

In other randomness, the title to this blog post is a quote that Bud says often.  Not sure why I used it for my post title but whatev.  It makes me laugh.  Especially if you say it in the accent used in the movie.

Big Daddy - Hip, hip-hop, hip-hop anonymous!!??
Something else that made me laugh:

I beg to differ
Welp, I better do something other than drink my coffee flavored Rockstar and blog on this Monday morning.  Here's to a better week and hopefully warmer weather!!!!

Cheers!

See ya later suckas!

Random Wednesday!

Welp folks, I made it to Wednesday.  After feeling like a crap magnet for the past few days, I am feeling less like a crap magnet today.  BOOF!  Hopefully by the end of the week I can sail into the weekend without any work business hovering over me.  I don't have a topic for today, really, but here are some random thoughts/comments/observations:

1) Why does my son find it hilarious to get up every night around midnight and then again at like 6am??  He used to wake up once around 4am or 5am, drink a bottle, and go back to sleep until around 7:30.  That was perfectish! (Perfect would be if he slept straight through...) Now he is on this weird schedule and when he wakes up at 6am he stays up!  Other than his george-ous good looks, how is he our kid?? JK, but seriosuly my husband and I both love our sleep.  AND the kid doesn't nap!!  I am hoping this is just a phase and that soon he will go back to at least only getting up 1 time per night.  One can dream, right?  Which brings me to #2...

Sleep: It looks glorious on you KB!

2) My husband got up with KB at 6am this morning and all I could hear was KB yelling, rambling, making all kinds of noises.  He is LOUD.  What did I do?  I laid there and tried to fall back asleep until 7:10 when I peeled myself out of bed.  What should I have done? I SHOULD HAVE WORKED OUT, DUH!!  I don't know what my deal is!  It would have been so much easier had I got up, worked out, got ready, etc.  Instead I laid there 1/2 awake, got up too late to shower (g-ross) and rushed to work.  LAME.  I even gave my husband the death stare like it was his fault KB was up and that I didn't work out.  I am not a morning person.  BUT, summer is fastly approaching and I need to get my arse into gear if I don't want to look like this:

3) I am a bridesmaid in my friend Keena's wedding this summer.  I had to order and size my dress a month after KB was born....so I was ballsy and ordered my dress 2 sizes smaller than I was at that time.  Motivation!  Well, Keena texted me yesterday and said my dress was in.  I am NERVOUS!  I know I have a lot of time before her wedding in July, but still!  I gained 40 pounds when I was pregnant, and I have lost 30.  I still have 10 more to go but my body is totally different!  Fingers crossed that baby zips up before July!  Here's to eating salads for the next 19 weeks!!

4) I really need to paint my toe nails.  Random.  But I do!  It's winter and no one sees them just yet, but the last time I painted them was in November.  Good thing Bud doesn't have a foot fetish!!

5) This Saturday night we are going out to dinner with a group of friends at a Chinese restaurant that has a Hibachi grill.  I am so excited!  There are 20 of us total.  I am sure we will go ot for a few drinks afterwards and I am just looking forward to getting out of the house, dressing up a bit, and having a good time.  Plus, my friends are awesome.

6) When people walk by my cube and drag their feet it drives me bananas.  STOP IT!

Okay, that's enough randomness for today.  Looking forward to this work day being over, picking up KB, hopefully getting a run in tonight, and catching up on shows from our DVR.

See ya later suckas!!

Crap Magnet

Do you ever have those days where nothing seems to go smoothly?  Well I am having one of those days...or should I say have been having one of those days since last Thursday.  Mostly just at work.  It just seems that no matter what I do, when I do it, how I do it - things just aren't panning out accordingly.  This usually happens in waves at my office and for some reason I have been riding that wave since last week.  NOT COOL.  This is where the name "CRAP MAGNET" comes into play.

Crap Magnet:
Person who for some inextricable reason attracts bad things and events to happen to them.
"That bloke's a complete crap magnet - If he fell into a flowerbed he'd still smell of cack."
**I took this from urbandictionary.com **

Cack??  I am going to have to start using that one.

Co-workers joke that I am a crap magnet and I thought it was all fun and games until these past couple days.  When I get mad I get the red face and this girl's face looks like it has been sizzling in the sun for hours.  So needless to say, I am ready to not be the crap magnet anymore.  Hopefully I can put out some fires today and leave work without wanting to flip off every bad driver that crosses my path while tailgating them until I can speed by them faster than the speed of light.  Yeah, I do that sometimes.  I have road rage and I am not afraid to admit it.

The good news for the day is that the stars have aligned and I worked out BEFORE work this morning!!!!!  Working out before work is a huge struggle for me because I am not a morning person.  I have tried so many different things to get me to be a morning person and it just hasn't happened.  This morning, however, KB woke up at 5am wanting to eat so I fed him and decided that since I was up, I might as well just get my arse on the treadmill.  This of course was the one morning KB didn't want to go back to sleep after his bottle so I had to set him up in his swing and listen to him yell cheer me on while I ran 4 miles.  It wasn't too bad and it energized me for the day.  I will talk more about working out at some point but for now, I best get back to being a crap magnet.

See ya later suckas!!!

What kind of name is La Du?

As you can see, the title of my blog is "La Du It 2 It."  Are you wondering (I am speaking hypothetically being I don't have any followers) why my blog has that name?  Well let me tell you...

In 2005 I moved to Eau Claire from Arizona to finish out my bachelor's degree.  I am from Minnesota but went to Arizona State for my first 2 years and decided to transfer to UW-Eau Claire to be closer to home.  When I moved to Eau Claire I started a job as a server at a restaurant called Garfield's.  On a side note, that is where I met my now husband and the place that housed the BEST Cuban sandwhich ever!  :)  Anyway, when I started there I don't think anyone referred to me by my actual name - Devon.  I usually went by Devo, D, D-bag - just kidding, I mean, I hope I wasn't called that, ha!  Then someone realized there is a rapper that goes by "Devin the Dude."

Devin the Dude

Devon La Du

Isn't the resemblance uncanny??

So , naturally I was called that for a while until my now husband came up with the French version "Devon La Du" which quickly turned into just "La Du."  So that name stuck with me...which brings me to my blog title.  Are you asleep yet?

In other news, I think it might get really close to hitting 40 degrees by the end of the week!!!  Doesn't sound that exciting but it just means that we are getting closer to spring, which brings us closer to summer, which brings my hand closer to a beerita (which takes place of the other adult beverage I have been holding onto all winter long).  I am so excited for warm weather so KB can play outside and not be so cooped up!  I can't wait to feel the warm air on my skin and wear flip-flops!! I am also excited I won't have ogre foot this summer due to being very pregnant!  I am looking forward to running outside, relaxing on a boat, setting up a kiddie pool in our backyard for KB, and chilling out maxing, relaxing all cool out on our patio.  Fresh cut grass smell come to me!!!!!!

A picture of grass for good measure

Welp, that's all I have for today.  See ya later suckas!

Hot Diggity Dog!

I decided to start a blog.  I have been thinking about it for a while but never had the urge to pull the trigger....until now.

Why you ask?  Well for a few different reasons.  One, I want to document my life since I just had the cutest baby in all the land this year.  I want to be able to look back at our new life as parents and remember the good, the bad, and the crazy.  Two, I have a some what creative side that has been locked away due to a job in insurance (bleh - just kidding, I like my job a lot) and I thought this would be a fun way to bring that back out.  And three, maybe someone will stumble upon this blog that can relate to something in my life and at the very least, we can laugh about it together.

My husband and I met almost 8 years ago and have been married almost 3 of those years.  A story about how we met will most likely take place in a future post but I will keep things simple since this is my first post (and I don't want to bore you right away). We bought our first house this last summer when I was 7 months pregnant.  Then we welcomed the love our lives into the world that fall.  Needless to say I am one lucky lady.  Follow along and you will hear all about my every day happenings and probably a bunch of random thoughts.  I will tell you there will probably be alot of pictures of this guy:

How could one resist??  That's KB.  He is the best baby in the world.  :)

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Sunday night and that Monday doesn't creep in and slap you in the face like the bizzo she is!!!
