Stuff

I am in a blogging slump as of late and I am sorry…kind of.  Luckily to my rescue, Jake and Holly are doing another finish the sentence link-up so I now have something to post.  Me likey.

My happy place... is relaxing on our couch, windows open with fresh air flowing in, house spotless, glass of wine, and mindless TV on the tube.  Glorious.

Whatever happened to... cartoons that don’t make me want to poke my eyeballs out????  Examples: Duck Tales, Gummy Bears, Chip N’ Dale Rescue Rangers, Smurfs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Care Bears.... ß That’s a lot of TV goodness right there.  And speaking of, are Saturday morning cartoons still a thing?

So what if I.... am more excited about my son’s 1st birthday party than my own a week earlier.  Also, so what if part of my excitement is wearing Mickey Mouse ears for the day.

E! needs a reality show about... anything other than people that are famous for no reason…..ANYTHING!  Or, have a Real Housewives of Wisconsin.
RHOW

My go-to fast food meal is... McDonald’s QP with Che meal.  That’s a quarter pounder with cheese meal.  I always get a Coke or the orange Hi-C.  Even though I don’t eat the pickles on my burger, I still order them and then pick them off and eat them first. J Add a vat of ketchup and we are good to go.

You might not know that I... am kind of a big deal.

The hottest quarterback in the NFL is... it would be a toss-up between Aaron Rodgers and Cam Newton.  I am not a passenger on the Tom Brady train.  He can take his headbands and horrible dancing skills elsewhere.
YOWZA
If I could... turn back time.  If I could find a way.

My personality is awesome because... I am cool as a cucumber.  Unless I am driving, then watch the FLOCK out!!!!!!!!!!

Twerking is.... like a car crash.  I don’t want to look but I have to.

I think it's super gross when... I see underarm hair longer than stubble on a woman wearing a sleeveless shirt.  Seriously.  Hippie or not, shave that shit!!!!

Someone needs to tell Miley Cyrus.... to focus on her fiancé, or ex fiancé, or whatev, because he is H-O-T!!!!!!! Ouch, it burns.

My husband and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary last Wednesday and I meant to post about it but got sidetracked and all of a sudden a week later I still haven't done it.  So, look for that coming up followed by a lot of birthday posts and probably some additional randomness.

Devon out.

Wrut Row Rorge

I signed up for the Wrut Run with my friends Keena and John on October 5th.  When I agreed to do this I thought I knew what it was all about so I just said yes while thinking to myself that I can run up the mountain a couple times, no biggie.  There is a road that goes up the mountain that I have ran up before so I thought I could totally do this and thought nothing of it.  What I come to find out is that it’s a FOUR hour relay race with 2 mile loops each time and the route is on a trail that is not pretty and paved like the road.  Last Sunday I met them both to run the race trail to practice and HOLY MAN that was tough!  I survived running up the face of the mountain through weeds, trees, gravel, snake holes that scared the bejesus out of me, and mud.  Running up the trail was rough because I felt like I was walking horizontally most of the time and on the way down I feared for my life with every step because my feet kept slipping.  Afterwards, I coughed for about 30 hours straight, no lie.  I woke up the next morning still coughing and was convinced I had bronchitis.  Well I didn’t, but I am still pretty sore from all that mountain running we did.  And we only ran 1 loop.  Race day I will probably have to run it 3 times.    THREE TIMES!!!???  I am going to have to really start training to be prepared unless I want to take the gondola down on a stretcher.
In other news, I found a couple colors that I would like to paint our living room and dining room/kitchen with.  Apparently when your husband tells you that he doesn’t really know what he likes and that he is not good at this type of stuff that doesn’t mean you have the go ahead to pick colors on your own.  So, after “conversing” last night about it for almost an hour (well maybe not that long) he agreed we would paint the weekend after Labor Day.  YAY!  I know he is not excited like I am, but I have been envisioning our house painted for a while and it looks per-itty fantastic.  I am hoping he comes around to the colors more because I do think that it will look really good (obviously).  Otherwise, I am open to other suggestions since we have a few weeks to officially make a decision.   I mean, right now we have white walls with a cream colored couch!!  Not a huge deal but it makes our couch look dirty, which is no good.  I mean, between the spit up and food spills it might be a little dirty, but the wall color makes it 10 times worse. ;)
That's all I have for now.  Anyone watch Real Housewives of the OC Reunion, Part 2 of 3 last night????  I did and wished I would have had a couple glasses of wine to go with that craziness.  BOOF!  Sidenote: A 3 part reunion?? A little excessive much!!??  It's cool, I still love it.
Peace out!!

Slack-a-lackin'

Welp, it’s been another month since I have blogged last….Devon for the fail.  But, to my defense we have been really, really, busy!!  For all of us that live in the Midwest, you know that once the warm weather rolls around (or lack thereof) we jam pack every single trip, activity, party, etc. into the 3 months of summer.  So this post will be more of a catch up of what’s been happening lately and random thoughts or observances, if you will.  Here goes....
Keena is now officially a FLORA!  We celebrated Keena and Jesse’s wedding the end of July and it was such an awesome day!  The ceremony was held at park by a lake and it was so pretty.  The weather wasn’t the greatest since it was a little chilly and rained here and there, but for the ceremony the sun peaked through, the wind calmed down, and it was perfect.  Keena looked absolutely stunning!  (I wouldn’t expect anything less!) I cannot wait to see the photographer’s pictures from that day.  Keena had a lot of really fun ideas…so fun that at one point one of the bridesmaids, Leah, asked “are we going to do any normal pictures?” hahaha.  The reception was also a lot of fun with live music, great food, and great people.  Speaking of Leah, she got down so hard on the dance floor that night that she fractured her foot!  Girl knows how to partay!  Great times were had by all.  Here are some pictures from the day:

I posted this on IG the Thursday before Keena's wedding

The following weekend after Keena’s wedding, we had another wedding to go to in Minneapolis.  The wedding was held downtown at a church, and the ceremony was on the 51st (or was it the 50th?  I dunno, there was free wine) floor of the IDS Building which overlooked the city, and more importantly, overlooked Target Field and the Metrodome.  The Twins were playing at Target Field and the entire stadium was lit up - looked pretty sweet from up above.  The wedding was pretty fancy but not too fancy for this lad.  The night before when I was trying to figure out what to wear, Bud walked into our room to find me pouting.  I just couldn’t find anything that looked that great.  I had a dress that was strapless that I was contemplating on wearing, but I wouldn’t be able to wear a bra with it and I KNEW that I would have a Janet Jackson moment for sure if I wore it.  So, Bud gave me the nod to try and find a dress at either Kohl’s or Target.  Well, it was 8pm so I had about 2 hours to figure something out before the stores closed.  Nothing like waiting until the last minute.  I ran to Kohl’s and had no luck.  I saw that Gordman’s was still open and then was quickly reminded that I am not 15 and can’t shop there.  My last resort was Target, and to my surprise I found the perfect dress for $25!  Anyway, back to the wedding.  We left for Minneapolis the morning of from Wausau, which is about a 3 ½ hour drive.  We had the GPS, our phones, and the address of the church.  We should be able to find the church no problem.  Nope, not us.  We get into the cities and somehow Bud and I were not on the same page (weird) and I had the GPS programmed to find the church, and my phone to find the hotel.  Bud was going off the GPS and I was going off my phone and long story short, and a temper tantrum later, we got to the church with about 5 minutes to spare.  I was naturally sweating profusely.  We find our friends, sit down, and shit you not, about 2 minutes later this couple sits down right behind us and the girl is wearing the SAME DRESS as me!!!!!!!  Curse words flew through my head for a couple seconds and then I reminded myself that I am in church and need to clean it up.  Anyway, the girl luckily wasn’t in the group we would be hanging out with most of the night so it worked out pretty good.   The reception was great - good music and good food.  Bud had a little stint with gout in his foot and couldn’t really walk or dance, which I felt really bad for him.  But apparently I didn’t feel bad enough to get up and dance my ass off for about an hour.  I just had to.  Once the beat hits me….

What a creep

After 2 wedding weekends in a row, and a Hodag before the wedding weekends, I was definitely ready to chill out for a bit.  The following week after the Minneapolis wedding we had a trip planned up North with family.  It was much needed.  I was starting to feel really bad about being so busy on the weekends because that meant not seeing Kamden as much.  So this trip came in perfect timing and we got to spend 5 full days with KB.  It was so awesome.  We were up North from Tuesday night through Saturday and did nothing more than relax on the pontoon, eat good food, spend time with family, played games, and just chilled out.  I wish we could have stayed up there another week.  Kamden did awesome on his first family trip too.  J

Just a little windy on the pontoon :)

So serious

Just a couple Buds

Baby obstacle course

After almost 11 months of trying to lose the baby weight I am officially at my pre-preg weight.  I have been about 2 pounds away for over a month and I finally made it there this last week.  This is kind of weird to me because I stopped working out for about 2 ½ weeks, didn’t really care what I was eating, and somehow lost weight.  I think it was because I was in a plateau and needed to switch things up.  So I did for a bit, and now I am back to working out again more regularly and to eating hopefully a little better than I have been lately.  It also could have been because I had a PBJ for 2 meals in a row and then weighed myself after a run.  ;)  I have 10 more pounds to go before my goal so I am hoping I can kick it into gear!

My cute running partner

Kamden is starting to say a couple words now and it’s the cutest thing in the history of the world.  He has been saying “da da da” for a while now and when we came back from the wedding in the cities, he was saying “ma ma ma”!!!  (I almost cried)  He is also saying “uh oh” and when I tell him “no” he replies with “no no no no.”  I just love it!  I think the things little kids say are the absolute cutest and funniest.  It does remind me that my thug rap listening days are coming to an end…at least until I can get the edited versions.  Also, Kamden is getting really close to walking.  He scales furniture, pulls himself up on anything, and has attempted to stand without holding on to anything and even took a couple wobbly steps away from the couch (and then immediately back again).  I think it’s so cool to see him hit these milestones!  Our little baby boy is growing too fast and is turning 1 next month already!!!  HOLY SMOKES!

I said "no" and this is his reaction....

This is totally normal

He would rather eat his dresser, naked, then get dressed after bath time

Such a goof-ball
Summer is starting to wind down which pretty much sucks, but on the bright side that means football is coming, American Horror Story is starting back up along with all the other shows I love that start in the Fall, and my birthday is coming.  Although I love my birthday and I love celebrating my birthday for days at a time, I still can’t help but panic a little that I will be 1 year away from 30.  WTF.  How did I get to be almost 30??  It’s okay, I won’t cry too hard.  I do know that I can be cheered up by presents….lots and lots of presents….and wine, don’t forget the wine.

I think that's about it......and now that I have used up all my energy for the day, I best get back to work.  Happy Friday!!!

Linking Up and Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiihhhht

S.H.I.T.....so happy it's Thursday! :)  That was courtesy of my co-worker.  But for real, I am happy it's Thursday because that means one more day of work this week until 2 days of freedom.  I said out loud to myself on the way to work today, "please be nice to me Thursday...please."  As always, I am really looking forward to the weekend.  Anyway, on to the "Finish the Sentence Link-Up" with Jake and Holly!

button

If I had one extra hour in the day...I would take a nap.  Seriously.

I wish my name...didn’t make the people I work with think I am a guy before they meet me or talk to me on the phone.  I have been at my job almost 2 years and I still get replies to my emails saying “thank you sir.”  I even changed the color of my signature line to purple and then to pink to hopefully make them think I am a girl.  Also, there has been numerous times where I have gotten mail addressed to “Mr. Devon ______.”

I think anything chevron is...fun.  I don’t own one piece of anything chevron but I think others look great wearing it! ;)

My last nightmare…happened last night.  I was pregnant with twins.  They were boy and girl twins, which if it really happened, would be what I prefer.  Especially since girl twins just remind me of The Shining (red rum).  That is pretty much all I remember other than the look of sheer horror on Bud’s face when I told him (in my dream).
Sometimes...I wish I could go back in time and relive certain memories.
My last meal on earth would be...winner winner buffalo wing, pizza, Cuban sandwich, ice cream, wine, fries, and mashed potatoes and gravy dinner.  Calories don’t count when you are about to die….unless I am going to Hell.  Then they would probably triple count.

I would much rather be on a lake up North than working, duh.
Mayonnaise...is really good when mixed with my favorite condiment on the entire planet, ketchup.  You can’t go wrong pairing that delicacy with some French fries and a coca-cola.  MMMMMMM
10 years ago, I didn't think...I would be married, with a kid, and living in Wisconsin.  I really thought I would be a famous actress, rich (obviously), and living in California.  Pretty happy my 10 year plan didn’t turn out.  J

Selfishly...I wish I could take a week off work, no kid, and just clean and get stuff done around our house.  Mom guilt would take over because I should just keep KB home with me but then I would get nothing done.
My favorite show on TV right now...is Real Housewives of the OC.  I can’t get enough.  I have watched it from day 1 and I still love it.  Vicky is crazy, Tamara is a bish, Lydia is a wanna-be hippie, I am coming around to Alexis this season, and Gretchen goes back and forth from being cool to being an idiot.  Drama!
And, George Zimmerman...is the new OJ Simpson.

Brain Dump…..hold on to your seats!

Well, it’s been about 2 ½ weeks since I have blogged in good ole Blog Land.  To my surprise, no one has threatened to throw themselves into on-coming traffic or decided to give up on social media altogether until my return (there should really be a font for sarcasm).  I don’t really have a reason I have been MIA other than work has been crazy busy and I haven’t had a chance to squeeze in a quick 15 to post something.   So, here is what’s been haaaaaappenin' in my hood as of late:
1) My son is a vampire.  Proof:
My sister-in-law watches Kamden while I am work some days and sent me this picture yesterday.  Then when I got him home after work he bit my leg.  Those suckers are sharp!!  Don’t worry though, I did not start craving humans for dinner and didn’t sizzle away in the sunlight this morning - so I am in the clear.  For some reason all I could think of is Lost Boys and that one boy floating in his brother’s (or was it his friend’s?) window all creep-like.  Hopefully we don’t wake up to KB floating around our house any time soon.
2) I went to Hodag last weekend for the first time and had a blast!  I don’t really fancy country music (you see what I did there?) but the atmosphere was a lot of fun.  I mean, who doesn’t like day drinking with friends and family while listening to live music?  Not me - I love it!  I may have loved it a little too much since the next morning I woke up at 5:30am to let the booze loose.  Haven’t done that in a LONG time.  I got a nap in the next day at least so that was grrrrrrreat!
3)  We spent the 4th of July in Tomahawk to watch my nephews run in the races and watch the parade.  I was excited for KB’s first 4th and he did great other than being terrified by all the loud noises during the parade.  I felt so bad for him.  L  Huge trucks would go by and just blare their horns and KB would scream every time.  Hopefully next year is better for him.  Later that night we went to a friend’s house and had the best smoked/grilled/BBQ chicken I have ever had.  It was so good!  My husband and I had to work the next day (seriously work people, who does that!!??) so we had to somewhat behave even though I didn’t really at all.  J  I had the biggest Pinterest fail/fiasco I have ever had that day that required 3 trips to the store (none were successful) and had a harsh realization that Pop Rocks do not exist anymore and lists are a must.  Needless to say, my 4th of July inspired cookies were a no-go.  Sad face.  Anyway, here are some pictures from the day:
4) My grandparents came through town the weekend after the 4th and their stay went too fast, per usual.  I always love when they come to visit and can’t wait to see them again soon.  They naturally spoiled KB and bought him lots of cute clothes, hats, sun glasses, and new swim shorts and a swim diaper.  We tested out his new swim gear while they were here too.  KB seemed to like the water and his little floaty that we found was perfect!
5) I started the 30 Day Shred on July 1st and have done the DVD 9 out of 16 days.  Overall, I have at least gone for a run, done the Shred, or both on every day this month except for 3!  That is really good for me!  My initial goal was to try and follow the plan of the Shred and do it every day for 30 days but that just hasn’t worked out.  I am not mad though - mainly I just want to get some sort of exercise in daily.  So at least I am on par with that goal!
6) KB has started pulling himself up on everything and has been scaling the couch and basically anything he can get his hands on.  I know he will be walking in no time!  It’s just so crazy how one day he is army crawling and rolling around and the next day we find him standing up in his crib.  Slow down little man!!!  I love watching him grow and figure things out, but it still makes my heart a little sad that our baby is slowly turning into a toddler.  I know he is not even 1 yet, but time seriously is flying and before we know it, it’s going to be his 1st birthday party!
His first shiner from using his new standing skills

7) Speaking of KB’s 1st birthday - I have figured out our theme!  He loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse so we are going with that theme and are having a hot dog bar!  I am going to find mouse ears for the kiddos, I am getting KB a really cute MM shirt off Etsy, and I am going to find some songs from the show to play.  For the hot dog bar we are going to have an array of toppings set out so people can make whatever kind of hot dog they want.  I am going to try and convince my husband to make homemade fries too.  I am excited to do this!  I have some other decorating ideas and a “vision” in my head for the party so it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

8) News Alert: Every place should have this:
9) We celebrated Keena’s bridal shower a couple weekends ago!  It was a lot of fun and her MOH did an awesome job!  I still cannot believe her wedding is in less than TWO weeks!
10) The 3rd Annual Corn Toss Tourney was a few weekends ago. My brother and sister in law have it out at their house and we set up bags and invite family, friends, and co-workers for a day of bags, good food, nice weather (most of the time), and drinks.  I am not that great at bags and we didn't win, but it was a ton of fun and I look forward to that weekend every year.  Next year, however, I will be sure to practice A LOT beforehand so my performance it at least mediocre.
Welp, that's all I have.  Here are some more pictures in case you didn't already get your fill:

Wine not?

 Peace out!!
